It Takes a Village

Posted by Leura Village on Wednesday, 8 December 2021

Leura Village Association (LVA) volunteers were out in force this week to 'deck the Mall' in time for Christmas.

The Christmas tree outside the Old Post Office is looking lovely, thanks to Leura Public School students and their marvellous handmade decorations.

Not only is the Christmas tree up, Leura's famous cherry trees have received a festive makeover.

Local residents and businesses hung stars, baubles and bows. The Mall's volunteer Gardeners of Leura (Gollies) added some extra touches to their cherry tree including gardening gloves, plant pots, a watering can and some very colourful flowers that suddenly popped up around the tree trunk.

LVA President Andrew Tsaroumis said, "Thanks to our wonderful volunteers, final touches on the cherry trees will continue through the week in time for Leura's Village Christmas event."

"We would love to hear from members of the community who would like to lend a hand to make Christmas in Leura magical and the Gollies are always on the lookout for extra hands to keep the gardens on the Mall looking their best throughout the year."

Leura's Village Christmas evening in the Mall will be on Friday 17 December from 4pm to 8.30pm with late night shopping, entertainment for all the family and special appearance from the big man in red.
